US actress January Jones has admitted she is in denial about Mad Men coming to an end.
The actress, who plays Betty Draper in the hit period drama, was one of a number of cast members who spoke of their sadness at the show ending in 2015 following the season seven premiere in the US on Wednesday night.
She revealed that the fact she would be leaving Betty behind soon hadn’t sunk in yet.
“I’m in total denial, I’ll do that later,” she told Access Hollywood.
“I’m like Scarlet O’Hara, I’ll think about it tomorrow – or some other time.”
The cast have received much critical acclaim since the 1960s drama launched in 2007.
And Jones revealed during that time, they had learnt a lot from each other, and for her, she particularly benefitted from working so closely with actor Jon Hamm, who plays her on-screen ex-husband.
“I think that we lean on each other a lot, and in that way I learned a lot about myself and my craft, and just being in a situation like a TV show when you’re moving so fast and doing so much work in so little time – it’s sort of an education that you can’t compare to anything else,” she said.
Hamm, 41, also had some thoughts to share on the show that has been such a big part of his life.
The actor revealed he isn’t looking forward to the program concluding.
“We’ve been a very tight cast and crew and family for a long time, so it’s going to certainly be sad to see that end,” he told E! News.
“Elisabeth (Moss) said it best. She’s like ‘There’s going to be laughter, there’s going to be tears, there’s going to be a lot of acting out.’ And it’s just part of the process,” Hamm said.
